How to Use the Chrome Extension
The Stori Chrome extension lets you autofill job applications in one click, find hiring managers directly from job postings, and compose personalized outreach emails — all without leaving your browser.
Installing the Extension
Visit the Chrome Web Store
Search for "Stori" in the Chrome Web Store, or use the direct install link from your Stori dashboard.
Add to Chrome
Click the "Add to Chrome" button and confirm the installation when prompted. The extension requires permission to interact with supported job board pages.
Sign in
Click the Stori extension icon in your browser toolbar and sign in with your Stori account credentials.
Pin it for easy access
Click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome's toolbar, then click the pin icon next to Stori. This keeps the Stori icon visible in your toolbar at all times.
The extension works best when your Stori profile is complete. Make sure you have filled in your work experience, education, skills, and job preferences before using autofill.
One-Click Job Application Autofill
The core feature of the Chrome extension is one-click autofill. When you visit a supported job application page, Stori automatically detects the form fields and fills them with information from your profile.
Navigate to a job application
Find a job you want to apply to on any supported job board or company career page.
Click the Stori autofill button
The Stori button will appear on the page (or you can click the extension icon in your toolbar). Click it to fill all detected form fields.
Review and submit
Check the pre-filled fields for accuracy. Some custom or company-specific fields may need manual entry. Then submit your application as usual.
Always review autofilled information before submitting. Some application forms have unique question formats that may require manual adjustments.
Job Preference Form
The extension includes a job preference form that customizes how autofill works. Setting accurate preferences improves the quality of autofilled responses, especially for questions about salary expectations, work arrangement, and availability.
To access your preferences, click the Stori extension icon and navigate to the preferences or settings section. You can set:
- Desired job title — Your target role
- Location preferences — Where you are willing to work
- Work arrangement — Remote, hybrid, or on-site
- Salary expectations — Your target compensation range
- Start date availability — When you can begin a new role
- Visa/authorization status — Work authorization details
Keep your job preferences up to date. They are synced with your Stori profile, so changes in one place are reflected in the other.
Hiring Manager Search
One of the most powerful features of the Chrome extension is the ability to find hiring managers directly from a job posting. The search uses a two-tier approach:
Tier 1: Direct Managers
Stori first searches for people who are most likely the direct hiring manager for the role — people with titles that suggest they manage the team the role sits in.
Tier 2: Senior Leaders
If direct managers are not found (or as an additional option), Stori searches for senior leaders in the relevant department — VPs, Directors, and Heads of the function.
To use the hiring manager search:
Open a job posting
Navigate to any job listing on a supported site.
Click the Stori extension icon
The extension will detect the company name and job details from the listing.
View suggested contacts
Stori displays potential hiring managers organized by tier. You will see their name, title, and company.
Unlock contact details
Use 1 credit per contact to reveal their email address and phone number. Unlocked contacts are saved to your account permanently.
Reaching out to the direct hiring manager (Tier 1) typically gets the best response rates. If you cannot find a Tier 1 contact, a Tier 2 senior leader can often route your message to the right person.
Email Composer
The Chrome extension includes a built-in email composer that lets you draft and send outreach emails without leaving the job posting page. Features include:
- Template variables — Use placeholders like {{contactName}}, {{companyName}}, {{myName}} that auto-fill with the right information
- Video intro embedding — Include your Personal Intro video directly in the email with a clickable thumbnail
- AI-assisted drafting — Let the AI help you write a compelling outreach message tailored to the specific role
- Send from your own email — Connects to Gmail or Outlook so emails come from your real address

The Stori Chrome extension supports autofill and hiring manager search on the following platforms:

- Company career pages — Autofill works on many custom career sites
Support for additional job boards and ATS platforms is added regularly. If you encounter a site where the extension does not work, let us know through the feedback option in the extension.
Troubleshooting
Stori button not appearing on the page?
- Make sure you are signed into the extension (click the toolbar icon to check)
- Refresh the page — the extension needs a moment to detect the application form
- Verify the site is in the supported list above
- Check that the extension is enabled in Chrome's extensions settings (chrome://extensions)
Autofill not filling all fields?
- Ensure your Stori profile is complete — missing profile sections will result in blank fields
- Some custom or unusual form fields require manual entry
- Update your job preferences in the extension for better results on salary, location, and availability questions
Hiring manager search returning no results?
- Make sure the extension can detect the company name from the job posting
- Try searching for the company directly in Stori's Source page instead
- Small or new companies may not have contacts in the database yet
If the extension suddenly stops working after a Chrome update, try uninstalling and reinstalling it from the Chrome Web Store. This resolves most compatibility issues.
