What is the Traits Assessment?

The Traits Assessment is a 40-question evaluation that reveals your professional strengths across five key traits. Free on all plans, including the full results report.

Overview

The Stori Traits Assessment measures your professional personality across five key traits. Unlike personality tests that label you with a type, Stori's assessment shows the relative strength of each trait — giving employers a nuanced picture of how you work and what environments bring out your best.

The assessment takes approximately 5-7 minutes to complete and is free on all plans, including Starter — and so is the full results report, with detailed breakdowns and insights.

How It Works

The Traits Assessment uses a triadic question format. For each question, you are presented with three adjectives and asked to rank them:

  • Most like me — The adjective that best describes you
  • More like me — The adjective that somewhat describes you
  • Least like me — The adjective that least describes you

There are 40 of these triadic questions in total. There are no right or wrong answers — the assessment is designed to understand your natural tendencies and preferences, not to test knowledge or ability.

From your dashboard or the Traits section, click to begin the assessment.

2.

Answer all 40 questions

For each question, drag or click to rank the three adjectives from most like you to least like you. Go with your first instinct — overthinking tends to produce less accurate results.

3.

View your results

After completing all 40 questions, your results are calculated instantly and your full report is ready to view.

Answer honestly based on how you actually are, not how you think an employer wants you to be. The assessment is most valuable when it reflects your genuine personality.

The Five Traits

The assessment measures five core professional traits:

Drive

Your motivation, ambition, and energy toward achieving goals. High Drive individuals are self-starters who push for results and set ambitious targets. They thrive in fast-paced, goal-oriented environments.

Resilience

Your ability to handle pressure, setbacks, and uncertainty. Highly resilient individuals stay composed under stress, recover quickly from failures, and maintain performance during challenging periods.

Communication

Your effectiveness in conveying ideas, listening, and influencing others. Strong communicators articulate their thoughts clearly, tailor their message to their audience, and build understanding through dialogue.

Collaboration

Your ability to work effectively with others, build relationships, and contribute to team success. High collaborators seek input from others, resolve conflicts constructively, and create an inclusive environment.

Adaptability

Your openness to change, new ideas, and unfamiliar situations. Highly adaptable individuals embrace change, pivot quickly when circumstances shift, and see ambiguity as an opportunity rather than a threat.

No trait is inherently better than another. Different roles and companies value different trait profiles. The goal is to understand your natural strengths and find roles that align with them.

Your Results Report

After completing the assessment, your results are presented in a detailed report, free on every plan:

  • Detailed scores for all five traits
  • Narrative descriptions of what each score means for your work style
  • Strengths and potential blind spots
  • Insights into what types of roles and environments suit your profile
  • Comparison context to help you understand where you fall on each trait spectrum

What Employers See

When employers view your profile, they can see your Traits Assessment results alongside your interview content and resume. This gives them a holistic view of who you are as a candidate:

  • Your trait profile visualization showing relative strengths across all five traits
  • Key insights about your work style and professional personality
  • How your trait profile may complement their team

Employers cannot see your raw question-by-question responses — only the aggregated trait scores and generated insights.

Retaking the Assessment

You can retake the Traits Assessment if you feel your results do not accurately reflect who you are. Keep in mind:

  • Your previous results will be replaced by the new ones
  • Employers will only see your most recent results
  • Retaking is free on all plans

Retaking the assessment multiple times trying to "game" the results usually produces less accurate profiles. The assessment is most valuable when you answer naturally and honestly.

Tips for Accurate Results

  • Go with your gut — First instincts tend to be the most accurate. Do not overthink individual questions.
  • Think about work contexts — When ranking adjectives, think about how you behave in professional settings specifically, not just in general life.
  • Be honest — Answer based on who you actually are, not who you wish you were. Authentic results help you find roles that genuinely fit.
  • Find a quiet moment — Take the assessment when you are not rushed or distracted. It only takes 5-7 minutes, but those minutes should be focused.
  • Do not compare — There is no "ideal" trait profile. Every combination of traits has strengths in the right context.
