How to Search for Jobs
The Stori job board tracks your applications submitted through the Chrome extension and helps employers discover your profile. Learn how to use filters, manage applications, and maximize your visibility.
Overview
The Jobs section in Stori serves as your central application tracker. When you apply to jobs using the Stori Chrome extension, each application is automatically logged here so you can track your entire job search in one place.
In addition to tracking your outbound applications, Stori also helps employers find you. Companies using the Stori platform can search for candidates based on skills, experience, traits, and interview completion — making a complete profile your best tool for getting discovered.
Application Tracking
Every job application you submit through the Stori Chrome extension is automatically tracked in the Jobs section. For each application, you can see:
- Company name and job title — The role you applied for
- Application date — When you submitted
- Status — Current stage of the application
- Source — Which job board or site you applied through
Consistently using the Chrome extension to apply ensures all your applications are tracked automatically. Applying outside of Stori means you will need to track those applications manually elsewhere.
Using Filters
As your application list grows, filters help you quickly find specific applications:
- Status filter — View only applications at a specific stage
- Date range — Focus on applications from a specific time period
- Company search — Find applications to a specific company
- Sort options — Sort by date, company name, or status
Getting Discovered by Employers
Beyond applying to jobs yourself, Stori enables employers to find and reach out to you. Companies using the Stori platform can search candidate profiles and filter by:
- Skills and experience keywords
- Job title and seniority level
- Location and work arrangement preferences
- Traits Assessment results
- Interview completion status
To maximize your chances of being discovered:
- Complete your profile — Fill in all sections including skills, job preferences, and work history
- Complete the interview — Candidates with completed interviews appear higher in employer searches
- Take the Traits Assessment — This gives employers additional signals to match you with suitable roles
- Set visibility to Public — Private profiles cannot be discovered by employers. Use "Hidden from Current Employer" if you need discretion.
- Use accurate job titles and skills — Employers search using job titles and skill keywords, so make sure yours are up to date and match industry conventions
If your profile visibility is set to Private, employers cannot discover or view your profile through search. Only people you share your direct profile link with can see it.
Following Up on Applications
Following up after applying significantly increases your chances of getting a response. Stori helps with follow-up in several ways:
- Find the hiring manager — Use the Chrome extension's hiring manager search or Stori's Source page to find the right person to follow up with
- Send a personalized email — Use Stori's email composer to send a follow-up that includes your profile link and video intro
- Track engagement — See if your emails have been opened or replied to
The most effective follow-up is to find and email the hiring manager directly within 3-5 days of applying. Use the Chrome extension from the original job posting to find the right contact.
Job Search Tips
- Apply consistently — Set a target for applications per week and use the Chrome extension to apply efficiently
- Quality over quantity — Sending a personalized email to the hiring manager of a role you are genuinely qualified for is worth more than mass-applying to dozens of poor-fit roles
- Keep your profile fresh — Update your skills, summary, and job preferences as your search evolves
- Combine strategies — Use both Stori's direct outreach tools and traditional job board applications for maximum coverage
- Track everything — Use the Jobs section to monitor your pipeline and identify which strategies are generating the most responses
