What is the Stori Interview?
The Stori Interview is an AI-powered experience that helps you showcase your personality, communication skills, and career story to employers. Choose from two formats: Personal Intro or Full Interview.
Overview
Resumes tell employers what you have done, but they do not show who you are. The Stori Interview fills that gap by giving you a way to present your authentic self to potential employers before you ever meet them.
Stori offers three distinct interview types, each designed for a different purpose. You can complete one, two, or all three — the more you complete, the richer your profile becomes.

Personal Intro (Optional)
The Personal Intro is a short, self-recorded video introduction. Think of it as your elevator pitch — a chance to make a memorable first impression in your own words.
How it works:
Select Personal Intro
From the Interview section, choose the Personal Intro format.
Allow camera and microphone access
You will need to grant browser permissions for your camera and microphone.
Use the teleprompter (optional)
Stori provides teleprompter support so you can see talking points while recording. You can customize the teleprompter text or turn it off entirely.
Record your intro
Hit record and introduce yourself. Keep it brief — 30 to 60 seconds is ideal. You can re-record as many times as you like.
Your Personal Intro video appears on your profile, can be embedded in outreach emails via the Chrome extension, and is included in your exported PDF resume.
Your Personal Intro does not need to be scripted or polished. Employers are looking for authenticity and communication style, not a Hollywood production.
Full Interview — The Stori Method
The Full Interview is the flagship Stori experience. It uses the Stori Method — an AI-powered narrative interview that explores your entire career journey through a real-time voice conversation.
How it works:
Select your archetype
Before starting, you choose an archetype that best represents your career identity. Your archetype shapes the themes and focus areas of the interview questions.
Allow microphone access
Grant browser permission for your microphone. The interview is a voice conversation — you speak naturally with the AI interviewer.
Have a conversation with the AI
The AI interviewer asks personalized questions drawn from specific details in your resume and profile. It covers your career journey, motivations, achievements, and what you are looking for next. The conversation flows naturally — follow-up questions are based on your actual answers.
Review and publish
After completing the interview, review your responses. When you are satisfied, publish the interview to your profile.
How the Stori Method keeps interviews authentic:
Because the AI draws questions from the specific details in your resume and asks follow-up questions based on your live answers, the interview is difficult to pre-script or rehearse and reflects your genuine experience. This gives your Stori Interview far more credibility than a written cover letter or scripted video.
The Full Interview requires uninterrupted time and a quiet environment. Plan for approximately 15-20 minutes and make sure you will not be disturbed.
What Employers See
When employers view your profile, they can explore your interview content in several ways:
- Video intro — Your Personal Intro video, if recorded
- Interview summary — AI-generated written summary of your career story and key highlights
- Audio/video responses — Your actual responses to interview questions
- Communication style insights — AI-generated analysis of how you communicate
- Section completion status — Which interview types you have completed
Employers can see your interview alongside your Traits Assessment results, giving them a holistic view of who you are as a professional.
Tips for a Great Interview
- Find a quiet space — Background noise degrades audio quality and can be distracting for employers reviewing your interview
- Speak naturally — This is a conversation, not a formal presentation. Be yourself.
- Be specific — Use concrete examples, numbers, and stories rather than generic statements. "I increased user retention by 23% by redesigning the onboarding flow" is far more compelling than "I improved user retention."
- Keep answers focused — Aim for 30-90 seconds per answer. Give enough detail to be meaningful without rambling.
- Be authentic — Employers want to know the real you. The Stori Method is designed to surface genuine stories, not rehearsed talking points.
- Use good audio — Earbuds or a headset with a microphone produce much better audio than your laptop's built-in mic
- Good lighting helps — For the Personal Intro video, face a window or light source so your face is clearly visible
Do not read from a script — it is obvious to employers and makes you seem less genuine. Brief notes are fine, but speak from experience and memory.
Retaking the Interview
You have full control over your interview content:
- Re-record individual answers — Not happy with one response? Re-record just that question without redoing the entire interview.
- Start over completely — Want a fresh start? You can retake any interview type from the beginning.
- Unpublish — Changed your mind? You can hide your interview from employers at any time by unpublishing it.
Most people are not satisfied with their first take. Recording two or three times is completely normal and typically leads to much better results. Do not let perfectionism stop you from publishing — a good interview is better than no interview.
Company Invitations
A company can invite you to complete your Stori Interview, for example as part of a job application.
How it works:
- A company sends you an invitation to complete your Stori Interview
- The invitation specifies which sections they would like you to complete
- You complete all requested sections
- The company can review your completed interview
If a company previously gave you a sponsored month of My Stori, it keeps working until it expires.
Even if you are not actively job searching, completing interview sections when invited is worthwhile — you get a richer profile for future opportunities.
