Country Leader, Amazon Business MENA
Dubai · Reports to the VP, Amazon Business International

Salary and other details. VP band. Dubai-based, monthly travel to Riyadh. Equal opportunity employer.

Why now. Amazon Business launched in the UAE in early 2026. Saudi Arabia follows in 2027, Egypt after that. Business procurement across the Gulf is a $180bn a year market that still runs on phone calls, WhatsApp and paper invoices, and the plan is to make Amazon Business the default way companies here buy within five years. This role owns the P&L for that plan from its first full year.

Key role deliverables.

  • By 90 days: a three-year plan for the region signed off by Amazon Business leadership, including the Saudi launch sequence and the categories we win first.
  • By 6 months: net-terms invoicing and VAT-compliant billing live in the UAE, and the first 25 accounts spending over $1m a year.
  • By 12 months: Saudi Arabia launched, the region ahead of its first-year revenue plan, and a leadership team of six you would hire again.
  • By 3 years: three countries, and a business large enough to hold its own product and tech roadmap.

Key challenges. Business customers here expect credit terms, Arabic-language support and a sales relationship, none of which the consumer marketplace was built to provide. Industrial and medical supply has to be built seller by seller. The team came from the consumer business and has to become a B2B sales organisation without losing the people who got the launch out. Engineering is prioritised globally, so MENA competes for slots with markets ten times its size.

The team you will lead. Thirty people in Dubai across sales, marketing and product, through six direct reports: the heads of sales, marketing, product, operations, finance and category. You report to the VP, Amazon Business International, alongside the country leaders for Japan, India and Germany as peers. The head of sales built the Saudi consumer launch; the product lead spent four years on Amazon Business in Germany.

The ideal candidate. Has personally run a P&L of $100m or more across more than one country at a company whose name people recognise, and has taken a marketplace or B2B business from launch to scale rather than inheriting it at scale. The three candidates we end up interviewing will have demonstrated this, so if that is not you, this role may not be the best match.

Where it leads. The leader who launched Amazon Business in Japan in 2019 now runs it for Asia Pacific. Country leaders who deliver a launch market are the pool from which regional roles are filled.

The rewrites contain team sizes, plans and figures we could not know from the outside. Those are assumptions made to show the form; in a real intake conversation they come from the hiring manager. Nothing in a rewrite is a claim about the company.

The rules

Eighteen rules, the shape of the ad for each kind of role, and the six questions to ask a hiring manager. Free to keep. Paste them above any job spec and ask your own AI to rewrite to them.

The facts that make an ad good live in the hiring manager's head

What will be delivered by day ninety. How many people, reporting to whom. What decides between the last three candidates. No job spec contains these, which is why no job ad does. Stori gets them out of the hiring manager in one conversation, then writes the brief, the ad and the interview from the answers.
